It’s important to know about your finances for tax purposes and other reasons such as invoices, or refunds, etc. Keeping an up to date business ledger is a great way to stay organized with your earnings and spending. Every day write down the money that people pay to you and the money that you pay to other people. Then, at the end of the month just add the columns, and you’ll know what your monthly profit is. You can also use software like Quicken to do this for you.
Keep your workspace clean and keep everything in its place. Devote a few minutes every day to clearing your physical and computer desktop. Be sure to keep tabs on your filing, as well. Put things back where they go (you don’t want to spend an hour later on looking for the post-its because they are buried under a pile of unfiled paperwork).

If your laptop failed tomorrow, would you know who owes you money and to whom you need to send your products? Hard copies of all your most important business transactions will allow you to quickly recover in the event of a catastrophe.
